U.S. Attorney’s Office August 18, 2011
  • District of South Dakota (605) 330-4400

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Oglala man charged with assault resulting in serious bodily injury was sentenced on August 15, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Tristan Yellow Horse, age 25, was sentenced to 41 months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, restitution, and a $100 victim assessment.

Yellow Horse was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 15, 2011. In November 2010, near Oglala, Yellow Horse helped to assault another man by kicking him in the head and punching him in the face, causing nasal and rib fractures. He pled guilty on June 16, 2011.

This case was investigated by the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.

Yellow Horse was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
