East Grand Forks Man Sentenced for Selling Meth

FARGO—United States Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on July 28, 2011, Mark Fassett of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Erickson on a charge of distribution of a controlled substance.

Fassett, 42, pleaded guilty on May 18, 2011, to selling three bags of methamphetamine (total weight .08 grams) to another person on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation on January 26, 2010.

Judge Erickson sentenced Fassett to three years’ probation with the first six months in home confinement. Fassett was also ordered to perform 150 hours of community service and to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Devils Lake Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Janice M. Morley prosecuted the case.
