Pine Ridge Man Pleads Guilty to Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Morris William Eagle Bull, Jr., age 22, of Pine Ridge, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on December 1, 2010, and pled guilty to Count II of an indictment that charged him with assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years of imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

Eagle Bull assaulted his female companion by repeatedly punching her about the face and body resulting in, among other things, a fractured jaw and two black eyes. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for March 4, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
