  • District of South Dakota (605) 330-4400

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for sexual abuse. Kevin Lloyd Bull Bear, age 45, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 15, 2010, for sexual abuse. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on August 25, 2010, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is any terms of years up to life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Bull Bear is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson is prosecuting the case. Bull Bear was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
