Two Indicted for Robbing a Minneapolis Bank

A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against two men for allegedly robbing the Franklin Bank in Minneapolis on December 28, 2009. In the indictment, which was filed with the U.S. District Court earlier today, Ryan Russell Liskow, 30, of Jordan, and David West Dixon, 38, of Rochester, were charged with one count of bank robbery. The indictment alleges they took $4,097 from the bank, which is located at 2100 Blaisdell Avenue South.

According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit, the bank was robbed at 10:15 a.m. on December 28, 2009, by a lone male, later identified as Liskow. He allegedly gave a teller a note that stated, “I don’t want to hurt anyone. Count out $2,000 into my hand. No dye pack or you’ll get hurt. Merry Christmas and New Years.” After receiving the cash, the man left the bank.

Minneapolis police officers in the area on an unrelated call saw the man running southbound on Blaisdell Avenue, approaching 22nd Street. They also saw him jump into the passenger side of a van. The van took off but failed to stop at a stop sign, so the police responded.

Upon approaching the van, the officers spotted a large stack of money sticking out from behind the driver’s seat. Ultimately, both men in the vehicle were arrested, and the officers confirmed that Liskow matched the description of the bank robber.

If convicted, Liskow and Dixon face a potential maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. All sentences will be determined by a federal district court judge.

This case is the result of an investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department and the FBI. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey S. Paulsen.
