United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Kyle man charged with abusive sexual contact was sentenced on January 6, 2010, by U.S. District Judge Richard H. Battey. Samuel Patrick O'Rourke, age 27, was sentenced to 36 months' imprisonment, five years' supervised release, and a $100 special assessment. O'Rourke was originally indicted for sexual abuse by a federal grand jury on December 16, 2008. In September 2007, near Kyle, O'Rourke had sexual contact with an underage girl. He pled guilty on October 20, 2009. This case was investigated by the BIA and FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case. O'Rourke was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
