Box Elder Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Porn

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Cory Fredericks, age 39, of Box Elder, appeared before Chief U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier on November 2, 2009, and pleaded guilty to an indictment that charged him with Possession of Child Pornography. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years incarceration, 3 years supervised release, and $100 to the Victims Assistance Fund. Fredericks owned and possessed a Gateway brand computer to which he downloaded and maintained between 10 and 150 images of child pornography. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregg S. Peterman. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for February 1, 2010. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
