Rapid City Man Pleads Guilty to Abusive Sexual Contact

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Samuel Patrick O'Rourke, age 27, of Rapid City, appeared before US District Judge Richard H. Battey on October 20, 2009, and pled guilty to a charge of Abusive Sexual Contact. The maximum penalty upon conviction is three years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. In September 2007, at Kyle, O'Rourke made sexual contact with an underage girl. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and BIA. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Carolyn G. Olson. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for January 5, 2010. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal pending sentencing.
