Kyle Man Sentenced for Distributing Beer in Kyle

Acting U.S. Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that a man charged with Dispensing Intoxicants in Indian Country was sentenced on October 13, 2009, by Chief US District Judge Karen Schreier. Craig Janis, age 44, of Kyle, was sentenced to one year probation and ordered to pay $25 to the Victims Assistance Fund. Janis was indicted for Dispensing Intoxicants in Indian Country (Bootlegging) by a federal grand jury on July 21, 2009. On October 13, 2009, he pled guilty to distributing beer from his home in Kyle to an Indian woman and was sentenced on the same date. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregg S. Peterman prosecuted the case.
