MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Dante McAlister, 36, of Beloit, Wis., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb to 18 months in federal prison for delivering heroin. This prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release. McAlister pleaded guilty to this charge on August 26, 2015.

McAlister delivered both heroin and cocaine to an informant during March and April 2015. He was on federal supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm at the time of the deliveries and had only been out of custody a month before he began selling drugs. His supervision was revoked in that case and he was sentenced to 14 months in custody, to be served concurrent to the 18-month sentence in this case.

The charge against McAlister was the result of an investigation conducted by G-ROC, a task force formed through the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Violent Crime Initiative, to address gang and drug-related violence in Rock County through the coordination of investigations among local and federal law enforcement agencies. Its members include the FBI; Rock County Sheriff’s Office; Rock County District Attorney’s Office; Beloit Police Department; and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. In the past two years, more than 20 people have been charged with a federal drug or gun crime as the result of G-ROC investigations. The prosecution of this case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.
