Viroqua Man Sentenced for Distributing Child Pornography

MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Jeremy Hogenkamp, 36, Viroqua, Wisconsin, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to 10 years in federal prison for distribution of child pornography. Hogenkamp pleaded guilty to this crime on September 25, 2012, and has remained in custody since his guilty plea.
A search warrant, premised on an undercover Internet operation, was executed at Hogenkamp’s Viroqua home on February 4, 2010. Agents found computers and electronic storage media containing child pornography.
At the time of the federal search warrant on Hogenkamp’s Viroqua home, he was facing La Crosse County charges for possession of child pornography. (Case No. 09-CF-176). Hogenkamp declined to have the federal case resolved in connection with these state charges, and he was sentenced in La Crosse County to four months in jail and 10 years’ probation for possession of child pornography charges. He has completed serving the jail sentence.
The charges against Hogenkamp were the result of parallel investigations conducted by the Federal Bureau Investigation and the Toronto Police Department in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Timothy M. O’Shea and Julie Pfluger.
