Federal Grand Jury Returns Indictments

MADISON, WI—A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned the following indictments today. You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Baraboo Man Charged with Bank Robbery and Gun Offenses

Richard B. Hindes, 30, Baraboo, Wis., is charged with bank robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment alleges that on June 16, 2011, Hindes robbed the Wells Fargo Bank in Baraboo, Wis., and brandished a firearm during the robbery. The indictment also charges him with illegally possessing a .22 caliber revolver.

If convicted, Hindes faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in federal prison on the bank robbery charge, seven years consecutive to any other sentence for the brandishing a firearm charge, and 10 years on the felon in possession charge. The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Baraboo Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Department, West Allis Police Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Przybylinski Finn.

Minnesota Man Charged with Distributing Child Pornography

Matthew Hendrickson, 23, St. Cloud, Minn., is charged with knowingly distributing computer images and video files which depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The indictment alleges that he distributed the images and video files on August 30, 2010.

If convicted, Hendrickson faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the UW-Madison Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the St. Cloud (Minn.) Police Department. The prosecution of this matter has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Graber.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Madison Man Charged with Drug Crimes

James Davis, 22, Madison, Wis., is charged in a seven-count indictment with distributing heroin and with distributing and possessing crack cocaine. The indictment alleges that Davis distributed heroin on five dates in April and May 2011, distributed crack cocaine on May 10, 2011, and possessed at least 280 grams of crack cocaine with intent to distribute on June 28, 2011.

If convicted, Davis faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on each distribution count, and a mandatory minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in federal prison on the possession with intent to distribute count. The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul W. Connell.

Madison Man Charged with Distributing Crack Cocaine

Larry D. Sullivan, 32, Madison, Wis., is charged with five counts of distributing crack cocaine. The indictment alleges that he distributed the drug in April and June 2011.

If convicted, Sullivan faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on each charge. The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Reinhard.

Inmate Charged with Possessing Weapon

Jonathan Gordon, 38, an inmate of the Federal Correctional Institution at Oxford, Wis., is charged with possessing a prohibited object. The indictment alleges that on March 30, 2011, he possessed a piece of metal approximately 6.5 inches long that had been sharped to a point at one end, designed to be used as a weapon.

If convicted, Gordon faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Prisons. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith P. Duchemin.

Man Charged with Illegally Re-Entering the United States

Aldegundo Gonzalez-Qurioz, 45, a citizen of Mexico found in Jefferson County, Wis., is charged with re-entering the United States after previously being deported. The indictment alleges that he was found in the United States on June 21, 2011.

If convicted, Gonzalez-Qurioz faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Office of Homeland Security Investigations. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
