New Glarus Woman Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

MADISON, WI—Erik C. Peterson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Abigail K. Eichelkraut, 26, of New Glarus, Wis., pleaded guilty on March 31, 2009, in U.S. District Court in Madison to bank embezzlement.

At the plea hearing, Eichelkraut acknowledged that while employed at Amcore Bank in New Glarus, she embezzled $114,878.20 from that institution.

Eichelkraut faces a maximum penalty of 30 years incarceration.

The charges against Eichelkraut were the result of an investigation conducted by the New Glarus Police Department, Green County Sheriff's Department, and Madison Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Grant C. Johnson.
