Sex Offender Sentenced to 10 Years

MEMPHIS, TN—U.S. District Court Judge J. Daniel Breen sentenced Shaun Sullivan, 28, of Corpus Christi, TX, to 10 years in federal prison and five years' supervised release after he pled guilty to using an interstate communication device to persuade, entice, and induce a minor to engage in sexual activity. In July of 2009, Sullivan, after communicating by computer and telephone, traveled to Tennessee for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. He picked up and transported the 14-year-old victim to Corpus Christi. After notification of this activity by Weakley County Sheriff’s office, Sullivan was arrested by Texas authorities. He was returned to Tennessee to face the charges here. The case was investigated by the Weakley County Sheriff’s office, the TBI, the Texas Rangers, and the FBI. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney R. Leigh Grinalds.
