Columbia Brothers Plead Guilty to Distributing Crack
Other Defendants’ Trial Set for February

BOWLING GREEN, KY—Brothers Roderick Curry, age 44, of Columbia, Kentucky, and Mark Vincent Curry, age 54, of Columbia, Kentucky, pled guilty to conspiring to distribute crack cocaine and prescription pills, and to numerous counts of distributing crack cocaine and prescription pills, United States Attorney David J. Hale of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The brothers admitted that between July 2007 and May 22, 2009, they conspired with numerous other individuals, many whom now await trail, to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and to distribute prescription pills, including hydrocodone, Suboxone, and Xanax. In addition to the conspiracy charges, Roderick Curry also pled guilty to 14 counts of distributing crack cocaine and prescription pills on specific occasions. Mark Vincent Curry also pled guilty to six additional counts of distributing crack cocaine and prescription pills on specific occasions.

The brothers were initially indicted in May 2009, in an indictment that currently lists 30 defendants. Including Roderick and Mark Curry, 11 defendants have pled guilty to date, and the remaining 19 defendants are scheduled for trial in Bowling Green beginning February 1, 2011.

The maximum potential penalties for Roderick Curry are life imprisonment, a $28,000,000 fine, and supervised release for life; and the minimum potential penalties are 10 years’ imprisonment and supervised release for a period of five years. The maximum potential penalties for Mark Vincent Curry are life imprisonment, a $15,500,000 fine, and supervised release for life; and the minimum potential penalties are 10 years’ imprisonment and supervised release for a period of five years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser, and it was investigated by the Kentucky State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The pleas were entered before Robert E. Goebel, Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Roderick Curry and Mark Vincent Curry are scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Thomas B. Russell on June 8, 2011, at 12:30 p.m., in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
