Ft. Thomas Man Sentenced to Eight Years in Murder-for-Hire Scheme

COVINGTON, KY—The United States Attorney’s Office and the FBI jointly announced today that Brian Curtis Huff, 50, of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, was sentenced yesterday to eight years in prison for use of an interstate commerce facility in the commission of a murder-for-hire and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

In April 2010, Huff was found guilty by a jury of the charges. The evidence at trial established that Huff offered to pay a co-worker $6,000 to kill his wife’s ex-husband. He later provided that co-worker with a loaded firearm that had an obliterated serial number.

The co-worker contacted the FBI after being solicited by Huff.

Under federal law, Huff must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, and, upon release, will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for three years.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office was represented by Assistant United States Attorney Elaine K. Leonhard.
