Hazard Man Sentenced 97 Months for Receiving Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney’s Office May 27, 2010
  • Eastern District of Kentucky (859) 233-2661

LONDON, KY—The United States Attorney’s Office and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office jointly announced that 62-year-old Jimmie Darrell Gay, of Hazard, Kentucky, was sentenced yesterday to 97 months and lifetime supervised release for receiving child pornography.

In the course of his guilty plea, Gay admitted that from October 13, 2008, and continuing through January 28, 2009, he received volumes of visual depictions of child pornography through e-mails and the Internet at his home in Perry County. Gay also admitted that he knew the images depicted minors. Gay was indicted in June of 2009.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit. The United States was represented in the case by Assistant United States Attorneys Jason A. Denney and Lindsay E. Hughes.
