Robber of Three Banks Found Guilty
Robbed Republic Bank and Two Branches of PNC Bank in 2006

LOUISVILLE, KY—Carter Eubanks, age 54, of Louisville, Kentucky, was found guilty on February 19, 2010, by a federal jury in United States District Court, Louisville, of armed robbery of three Louisville banks, using a firearm during and in relation to a violent crime, and being a felon in possession of firearms, United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The jury’s verdict of guilty was returned following a four-day trial before Thomas B. Russell, Judge, United States District Court.

Eubanks was convicted of robbing PNC Bank, 9700 Linn Station Road on March 24, 2006, Republic Bank, 4921 Brownsboro Road on April 17, 2006, and PNC Bank, 4810 Brownsboro Road on May 23, 2006. He was also convicted of using a firearm in each robbery and of illegally possessing a firearm based upon his having been previously convicted of a felony offense. He had prior convictions in 1984 for robbing three banks in Michigan for which he received sentences totaling 45 years. After the commission of the bank robberies in Louisville, he robbed a bank in Ridgeland, Mississippi. For that offense, he received a sentence of 15 years in 2007.

The maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, a $2,250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of five years; and the minimum potential penalties are 57 years’ imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys James H. Barr and Daniel Kinnicutt, and it was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Jeffersontown Police Department.

Eubanks is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Russell on May 17, 2010, at 12:30 p.m., in Louisville.
