Paris, Kentucky Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 02, 2009
  • Eastern District of Kentucky (859) 233-2661

LEXINGTON, KY—The United States Attorney’s Office, FBI, Office of the Attorney General and the Paris Police Department jointly announced today that Kenneth Ray Shadoan, 31, of Paris, Ky. was indicted yesterday on two counts of possession of child pornography and a forfeiture count that would force Shadoan to surrender his vehicle if convicted.

The indictment alleges that between May of 2007, and May 2009, Shadoan possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit activity in Bourbon and Pulaski County.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the FBI, the Office of the Attorney General and the Paris Police Department. The indictment was presented to the grand jury by Assistant United States Attorney Hydee R. Hawkins.

This case was brought as part of the Eastern District of Kentucky’s efforts to promote Project Safe Childhood (PSC). PSC is a Department of Justice initiative dedicated to protecting children from online exploitation and abuse.

Shadoan’s appearance before the United States District Court has not yet been set by the Court. If convicted, Shadoan faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of sentences.

The indictment of a person by a grand jury is an accusation only, and that person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
