Shawn W. Stroud Named Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Field Office’s Administrative Division

Director James B. Comey has named Shawn W. Stroud special agent in charge (SAC) of the Los Angles Field Office’s Administrative Division. Mr. Stroud most recently served as acting chief inspector in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters (FBIHQ).

Mr. Stroud entered on duty in 1995 and served as a special agent in the New Orleans Field Office, working public corruption and drug matters and as a member of the SWAT team. In July 2001, he was promoted to supervisory special agent and transferred to the Middle East Operations Unit within the Counterterrorism Division, where he was the Iraq Program Coordinator. Immediately after the events of 9/11, Mr. Stroud served in PENTTBOM Operations. In 2002, as the Iraq Program Coordinator, Mr. Stroud was responsible for planning the FBI’s support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2003, Mr. Stroud joined the Kansas City Field Office as the supervisory senior resident agent for the resident agencies in the state of Kansas. In 2005, Mr. Stroud took over the Kansas City Field Office’s Cyber Crime Task Force, which oversaw all cyber intrusion matters. In 2008, Mr. Stroud served as an assistant inspector with the Inspection Division, and, in 2009, he returned to Kansas City as the white-collar crime squad supervisor. In 2010, Mr. Stroud was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Norfolk Field Office. He was responsible for the criminal and administrative programs and had additional oversight of the new office construction project, the SWAT and ERT programs, and the Crisis Management program. Mr. Stroud was promoted in 2013 into the Senior Executive Service and served as an inspector in the Inspection Division at FBIHQ. In June 2014, Mr. Stroud served as the acting SAC of the Intelligence Division at the Washington Field Office before returning to the Inspection Division as the acting chief inspector.

Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Stroud was a United States Marine Corps aviator and a special agent with the United States Secret Service. Mr. Stroud earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Science degree in computer science from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master of Arts in criminal justice from the George Washington University.
