Press Availability for the Fourth Central American Law Enforcement Exchange (CALEE) Program

What: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD), the U.S. Department of State (DOS), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are hosting the Fourth Central American Law Enforcement Exchange (CALEE) class in Los Angeles. This class is composed of officers from El Salvador, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Belize, and the United States. CALEE is designed to enhance partnerships toward effectively combating transnational gangs and to develop methods of information sharing and case development. Gang intervention and rehabilitation techniques will also be discussed in a professional forum where law enforcement from North America and Central America will be afforded an opportunity to further strengthen their multi-lateral relationships in combating gangs.

When: Sunday, August 14, 2011, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Who: FBI, LAPD, and LASD representatives will be available for interviews to discuss the CALEE Program.
