The FBI and the Los Angeles Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance for information leading to the identity of the “Summer School Bandit,” an unidentified young male, possibly a student, believed to be responsible for at least two bank robberies in Los Angeles County in the past week.

During the most recent robbery at a to a Telesis Comm. Credit Union in Woodland Hills, California, the Summer School Bandit left the demand note at the bank and did not attempt a disguise during the robbery. The demand note referenced a “bomb” the bandit indicated was hidden in his clothing, and included a written threat that suggested he would shoot people who did not comply with his demands. The bandit also made a verbal demand during the robbery.

Based on the modus operandi and witness descriptions, the Summer School Bandit has also been linked to a robbery at a Bank of American in Granada Hills on July 23, 2009.

Bank surveillance photographs are being distributed to the media. Anyone with information as the identity of the suspect known as the Summer School Bandit, is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. Reward money is being offered in exchange for valuable information.

This investigation is being conducted jointly by the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI. Anyone with info can call either agency or dial 911. The FBI may be reached 24 hours a day at 888 CANT HIDE (888 226-8443) or by contacting detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department.
