Four Defendants Sentenced for Roles in Conspiracy to Rob Armored Car Employees

LITTLE ROCK—Christopher R. Thyer, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, announced today that Antonio “Tony” Person, age 35; Jason D. Gilbert, age 31; Allen Clark, age unknown; and Sterling Platt, age 30, were sentenced today by United States District Chief Judge J. Leon Holmes for their roles in a conspiracy to rob armored car employees.
Person, the leader of the successful 2007 armed robbery outside the U.S. Bank in North Little Rock, was sentenced to 60 months for both the conspiracy and the robbery, plus an additional 84 months for brandishing a firearm during the robbery, for a total of 144 months in federal prison. He also received three years of supervised release.
Gilbert was an officer with the Little Rock Police Department at the time of the conspiracy and also during a separate, failed attempt to rob the main office of Arkansas Armored Car in Little Rock in 2005. Gilbert’s role in the crime was to monitor his police radio during the robbery and to alert his co-conspirators if any alarms or 911 calls were reported during the robbery and to warn them of any police response to the robbery. Gilbert was sentenced to 42 months’ imprisonment in the Bureau of Prisons and one year of supervised release.
Clark and Platt were not law enforcement officers at the time of the crimes, but both later gained employment as law enforcement officers, respectively, with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Little Rock and with the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. Because of their lesser roles in the case, Clark was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment with three years of supervised release, and Platt was sentenced to two years of probation.
The remaining defendant, Davis, has not yet been sentenced. No sentencing date has been set by the court.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the North Little Rock Police Department, and the Little Rock Police Department.
