Investigators from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested five suspects this weekend, following a joint investigation into a group of individuals who traveled from Southern California to Las Vegas to commit a home invasion robbery. The suspects were all taken into custody without incident at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon in a local hotel/casino parking lot.

The arrests were made by members of the newly formed Asian Organized Crime Task Force, a joint federal and local law enforcement partnership created to conduct this type of interstate investigation. While not the first arrest made by this newly formed unit, this sting operation dubbed “Vegas Hold-Em” is the largest to date.

All five suspects had traveled to Las Vegas with the intent to rob the occupants of what the suspects believed was a local residence being used as narcotics “stash house” and which supposedly contained a large amount of cocaine.

Arrested in connection with this incident were: James Arum Han, 28 years of age, of Southern California; Rene Antwan Hypolite, 23 years of age, of Southern California; David Chon, 28 years of age, of Southern California; Howard Suh, 25 years of age, of Southern California; and Kyung Hoon Han, 35 years of age, of Southern California.

All five suspects were charged federally with: Conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery.

It is believed these suspects are responsible for numerous home invasion robberies and other similar crimes within the Southern California area. This was their first arrest locally.

In addition to taking the five suspects into custody, several weapons were recovered during the arrest.

This investigation remains ongoing. More arrests are anticipated, along with the possible filing of additional charges against the above suspects.
