Searching for Individual Who Robbed Bank in Oak Ridge

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief Jim Akagi of the Oak Ridge Police Department (ORPD) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual who robbed the TN Bank of Oak Ridge today.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., the suspect entered the TN Bank of Oak Ridge located 900 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, displayed a dark-colored, semi-automatic handgun and verbally demanded money. Witnesses described the suspect as a white male in his late 50s to late 60s, approximately 6’ to 6’2” tall, and weighing between 170 and 180 pounds. The suspect was wearing a dark-colored, hoodie sweatshirt with the hood up, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. He was also wearing black gloves and a piece of black material covering his mouth.

After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled the scene on foot. A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to please call the Knoxville FBI at 865-544-0751 or the ORPD at 865-425-4399. This matter is being investigated jointly by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (which consists of personnel from the FBI, KPD, and the KCSO), and the ORPD.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
