The FBI and Regal Entertainment Group (REG) have partnered to educate children regarding the potential dangers associated with using the Internet. REG, headquartered in Knoxville, and the FBI’s Knoxville Field Office have created a national public service announcement (PSA) to promote the FBI’s Safe Online Surfing Program. The idea for the PSA was developed by the Knoxville Division with support and funding through the FBI’s Cyber Division and Office of Public Affairs. The program teaches children how to use the Internet safely through a series of online competitive challenges.

The PSA, produced in Knoxville by JAO Productions, will air in REG theaters nationwide before all G, PG, and P13-rated movies from 09/09/2011 until 09/15/2011. Additionally, from 09/16/2011 until 09/29/2011, it will air nationwide on all REG’s Lobby Entertainment Network screens. REG operates the largest and most geographically diverse theatre circuit in the United States with over 224 million annual attendees in 2010.

This joint initiative is emblematic of REG’s long history of dedicated community service and philanthropic leadership. Knoxville FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard Lambert noted, “Regal’s invaluable collaboration in this educational outreach project will enhance childhood safety and protect our nation’s most valuable asset—our kids.”
