The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief Sterling Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed a Knoxville bank today.

At approximately 11:35 this morning, a man entered the Isaiah’s Landing branch of the Home Federal Bank located at 2940 South Mall Rd. in east Knoxville, passed a note to the teller demanding money and threatened to have an explosive device.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, in his mid 20’s, between 5’-7” and 5’-9” , weighing approximately 150 to 160 pounds. The suspect was wearing a burnt orange, long sleeve shirt, a red baseball cap, and large frame sunglasses.

After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect left the scene on foot, leaving behind an improvised explosive device. Agents and officers later determined that the device was a hoax.

The man appears to be similar to the person who robbed the TVA Credit Union on Greenway Road in North Knox County July 13.

A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751 or the KPD at 865-215-7212.

This matter is being investigated jointly by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF) and KPD Major Crimes Unit.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
