KANSAS CITY, KS—A Missouri man pleaded guilty Monday to a robbery in December at a bank in Shawnee, Kansas, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said.

Scott Thario, 22, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

A grand jury indictment filed in December 2013 alleged that on December 16, 2013, Thario robbed Intrust Bank at 19501 West 65th Terrace in Shawnee, Kansas. The indictment alleged he was carrying a short-barreled shotgun during the robbery.

Sentencing is set for August 5. He faces a penalty of not less than 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on each count. Grissom commended the Shawnee Police Department, the FBI, and Assistant U.S. Attorney David Zabel for their work on the case.
