Kansas City Man Sentenced for Sex Trafficking in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, KS—A Kansas City, Missouri man has been sentenced to federal prison for sex trafficking, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
Tony A Rogers, Jr., 25, Kansas City, Missouri, was sentenced to 57 months in prison. Rogers pleaded guilty to one count of interstate transportation of an individual with intent to engage in prostitution. In his plea, he admitted he was arrested August 9, 2012, when the Special Investigations Unit of the Prairie Village Police Department conducted a prostitution sting. An investigator working undercover called a number on an Internet site and arranged for a woman to meet him in Prairie Village, Kansas.
At approximately 8 p.m. that day, Rogers and a co-defendant left Independence, Missouri with a woman identified in the indictment as K.C., with the intent that K.C. would engage in prostitution. Police took K.C. into custody when Rogers dropped her off. Rogers and the co-defendant were stopped and arrested after they dropped off K.C.
Co-defendant Danyelle N. Putman pleaded guilty to the same charge as Rogers did. She is set for sentencing June 25.
Grissom commended the Prairie Village Police Department, the FBI, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Maag for their work on the case.
