Independence Woman Pleads Guilty to Armed Bank Robbery

  • Western District of Missouri (816) 426-3122

KANSAS CITY, MO—David M. Ketchmark, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that an Independence, Missouri woman pleaded guilty in federal court today to aiding and abetting the armed robbery of First Federal Bank in Grandview, Missouri.

Kiaira D. Minor, 21, of Independence, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Howard F. Sachs to the charge contained in a February 15, 2011 federal indictment.

By pleading guilty today, Minor admitted that she drove the getaway car on January 19, 2011 when co-defendant Richard A. Davis, 21, of Kansas City, used a Colt .357 magnum revolver to rob the First Federal Bank located at 5901 Maine in Grandview. Davis entered the bank and, while holding the firearm in his hand, jumped over the counter and demanded an employee fill up a bag with cash. Davis then fled with $3,374 from the cash drawer.

Davis pleaded guilty to using a firearm during a crime of violence and was sentenced on December 22, 2011 to seven years in federal prison without parole.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul S. Becker. It was investigated by the FBI and the Grandview, Missouri Police Department.
