Kansas City Man Sentenced for Armed Bank Robbery

KANSAS CITY, MO—Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for using a firearm to rob First Federal Bank in Grandview, Mo.
Richard A. Davis, 21, of Kansas City, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Howard F. Sachs to seven years in federal prison without parole.
On Aug. 30, 2011, Davis pleaded guilty to using a firearm during a crime of violence. Davis admitted that he used a Colt .357 magnum revolver to rob First Federal Bank, 5901 Maine, Grandview, on Jan. 19, 2011. Davis entered the bank and, while holding the firearm in his hand, jumped over the counter and demanded an employee fill up a bag with cash. Davis then fled with $3,374 from the cash drawer.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul S. Becker. It was investigated by the FBI and the Grandview, Mo., Police Department.
