Tallahassee Man Charged with Child Sex Trafficking

U.S. Attorney’s Office May 27, 2010
  • Middle District of Florida (904) 301-6300

JACKSONVILLE, FL—United States Attorney A. Brian Albritton announces the return by a grand jury of an indictment charging Ian Sean Gordon (age 28, of Tallahassee) with sex trafficking of a child by use of force. If convicted, Gordon faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 15 years in federal prison and up to life imprisonment.

According to the indictment, during March 2010, in Duval County, Florida, Gordon used force to cause a child to engage in a commercial sex act. This particular charge is commonly referred to as child prostitution. Gordon was arrested and taken into federal custody on May 27, 2010.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mac D. Heavener, III.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006, by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
