Indictments Returned in Hammond Federal Court

HAMMOND, IN—The United States Attorney’s Office announced that the following Indictments were returned on April 17, 2013:
- Diamond Toney, 19, and Dedrick Bufkin, 20, of Merrillville, Indiana, were charged with kidnapping and use of a firearm during a crime of violence. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force and the Merrillville Police Department. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Chang-Adiga.
- Daniel Loy, 32, of South Haven, Indiana, was charged with distribution of cocaine. This charge was filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Chang-Adiga.
- Michael Nash, 38, of Gary, Indiana, was charged with tax fraud and identity theft. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations Division. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Kolar.
The United States Attorney’s Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
