HAMMOND, IN—The United States Attorney’s Office announced the following took place the week ending 10/1/11:

Terry Carlyle, 54, of Mooresville, Indiana, pled guilty before Chief Judge Philip Simon to counts one and three of an indictment charging him with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm during and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Sentencing has been set for 1/26/12. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Indiana State Police, and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Nozick.

Gregory Wolfe, 21, of Granger, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Rudy Lozano to 88 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to counts one and two of a superseding indictment charging him with bank robbery and interstate transportation of stolen goods. Wolfe was ordered to pay $3,028,011.29 in restitution. This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Revenue Service. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas Ratcliffe.

William Wicks, 48, of Chesterton, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Joseph Van Bokkelen to one year of probation after pleading guilty to count two of an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. This case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dean Lanter.

William Geiger, 28, of West Lafayette, Indiana, was sentenced by Senior Judge James T. Moody to 135 months’ imprisonment and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to count one of an indictment charging him with receipt of child pornography. This case was the result of an investigation by the Lafayette Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jill Koster.

Lamar Sanders, 34, of Blue Island, Illinois, was sentenced by Judge Joseph Van Bokkelen to 300 months’ imprisonment and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to counts one and two of an indictment charging him with kidnapping and interference with commerce by threat or violence. This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jacqueline Jacobs.

Deonte Land, 18, and Jesse Mickles, 25, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, pled guilty before Chief Judge Philip Simon to count one of an indictment charging them with possession with the intent to distribute heroin. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jacqueline Jacobs.

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
