$5,000 Reward Offered in Search for Stolen FBI Weapons and Equipment

Michael S. Welch, Special Agent in Charge of the Indianapolis Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of individual(s) responsible for the theft of FBI weapons and equipment from a government vehicle parked in a residential neighborhood in northwest Indianapolis, Indiana. This theft took place between the evening hours of September 16, 2009, and the early morning of September 17, 2009. During this same time period and within the general area, an additional 10 vehicles and/or residences were broken into.

The reward is also being offered for information concerning the location and return of three stolen weapons. The stolen weapons are described as an H & K MP5/10A3 10 mm gun, a Rock River Arms LAR15 rifle, and a Springfield 1911A1 .45 caliber handgun. Additionally, a large green duffel-style gear bag was stolen which contained an FBI SWAT uniform and two sets of body armor, green in color, one set having FBI letters displayed on the front and back.

The FBI, along with Agents and Officers of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE), the Indiana State Police (ISP), and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), are jointly investigating this matter.
