On Monday, September 8, 2014, the Hills Bandit attempted to rob a Union Bank branch located at 7807 Girard Avenue in San Diego, California. This attempted robbery was the eighth robbery linked to the Hills Bandit since May 2014. Later that afternoon, he robbed his ninth bank, a Wells Fargo branch located in Laguna Niguel, California.
