FBI Director Christopher Wray presents Boston Division recipient Deeqo Jibril with the Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) at a ceremony at FBI Headquarters on May 3, 2019.

The Boston Division honors Deeqo Jibril, a local activist and advocate for immigrant women and children. Jibril was born in Somalia and relocated to Boston when she was 12. She founded the Somali Community and Cultural Association, whose mission is to integrate the Somali community into American life while maintaining its culture, faith, and values. Jibril exemplifies a new generation of African women.

FBI Director Recognizes Distinguished Community Leaders


In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters on May 3, 2019, Director Christopher Wray recognized the recipients of the 2018 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.
