2017 Director’s Community Leadership Award Recipient

FBI Director Christopher Wray presents Springfield Division recipient Michael Gillespie with the Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) at a ceremony at FBI Headquarters on April 20, 2018.

The Springfield Division honors Michael Gillespie for creating ID Ransomware, a free website that provides help to victims of ransomware. The website enables victims to submit data to learn more about the particular strain of infection, including methods of decrypting their files. Mr. Gillespie also develops custom applications, free of charge, to help victims recover from ransomware attacks.

FBI Director Recognizes Distinguished Community Leaders

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters on April 20, 2018, Director Christopher Wray recognized the recipients of the 2017 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.
