United States Attorney Robert Pitman announced that in El Paso, 46-year-old Joachim Rudolf Hees (pronounced “Hays”), a former Canutillo I.S.D. teacher, faces between five and 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty today to receipt of child pornography.

In December 2008, FBI agents executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and seized three home computers as well as related electronic media. A forensics examination of the seized materials revealed the presence of close to 600 images depicting child pornography.

Hess remains in federal custody pending sentencing which is scheduled for March 5, 2012, before Senior United States District Judge David Briones.

Assistant United States Attorneys Daniel Crumby and J. Brandy Gardes are prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
