Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Speaks at FBI

Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson of the Texas Supreme Court visited the El Paso Division of the FBI on Monday, February 28, 2011, in honor of National African-American History Month. Chief Justice Jefferson’s remarks were entitled, “A Slave, a Battle, and the Promise of America.”
Governor Perry first appointed Chief Justice Jefferson to the court in March 2001, and he was elected to fill the remainder of the term to the Texas Supreme Court in November 2002 before becoming that body’s chief justice in September 2004. He succeeded former Chief Justice Thomas R. Phillips as the 26th chief justice in Texas.
