United States Attorney John E. Murphy announced that in Midland, United States District Judge Robert Junell sentenced 41-year-old Clifton Von Driver of Andrews, Texas, to 35 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine. Judge Junell also ordered Driver to serve a 10-year term of supervised release upon completion of his prison term.

Driver pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on April 28, 2010. According to court records, on February 13, 2010, law enforcement agents successfully placed Driver and two other individuals under surveillance as they traveled from Andrews to Hobbs, New Mexico, to obtain methamphetamine to sell. At the time of his arrest, Driver was on federal supervised release based on a 2005 methamphetamine trafficking conviction.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Midland Police Department and Andrews Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Brandi Young prosecuted for the Government.
