  • Eastern District of Michigan (313) 226-9100

Jaime VILLANUEVA, 24, of Novi, Michigan pleaded guilty in Federal District Court today to transporting a minor for illicit sexual conduct and possession of child pornography, announced Acting United States Attorney Terrence Berg. VILLANUEVA pleaded guilty before the Honorable Patrick M. Duggan and faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Information presented to the court at the time of the plea established that from 2007 until March 19, 2008, in Novi, Michigan, defendant VILLANUEVA communicated with a 13 year old girl via the Internet in an on-line chat room and through cellular telephone calls. In March of 2008, VILLANUEVA traveled from Novi, Michigan to Sandsprings, Oklahoma and picked up the minor girl to bring her back to Michigan. The two engaged in sexual activity following the return trip to the Defendant’s apartment in Novi.

At the time of his arrest VILLANUEVA also possessed numerous images and movies of child pornographic material that he had obtained via the internet, including images of real children under the age of 10 engaged in sexual intercourse with adults. VILLANUEVA downloaded many of these images and/or videos from the Internet.

United States Attorney Terrence Berg praised the work of the FBI Agents who coordinated their efforts with an earlier investigation by the Novi Police Department.

Acting United States Attorney Berg stated, “These agents’ professionalism and dedication in this case resulted in the recovery of a teenager who had arrived in Michigan 48 hours earlier. She was yet another victim of on-line enticement and her victimization would have continued for much longer.”

The defendant’s sentencing date will be scheduled in May before Judge Duggan. Assistant United States Attorney John O’Brien, prosecuted case for the United States.
