The FBI’s Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force (RMSSTF) has arrested violent bank robbery suspect Myloh Jaqory Mason, known as the “Scream Robber,” less than one month after he was placed on the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list. The RMSSTF and FBI SWAT team took him into custody without incident at a Motel 6 near I-25 and 84th Aveneue in Thornton around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

“The capture of this dangerous felon means our community is safer, because we believe Mason would have continued committing violent crimes while he was on the run,” said FBI Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Thomas Ravenelle. “I thank each of the task force members for their hard work and commitment, as they worked day and night to get him behind bars.”

Mason was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, attempted second-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault in Jefferson County’s First Judicial District. He also faces a federal charge of convicted felon in possession of a ballistic vest.

Mason is believed to have robbed at least two banks this fall. The first was in Lakewood, Colorado, on September 30, 2015. The RMSSTF says Mason and two others wearing costumes and masks from the movie Scream allegedly shoved guns in the faces of bank tellers and told them they would die unless they opened the vault.

The second bank robbery happened on November 18, 2015, in Lakewood, Colorado. Agents say Mason and two others wore bright green and white skeleton masks when they took over the bank, allegedly brutalized tellers, and got into the vault. In their getaway, Mason and his partners allegedly shot two innocent people.

“The capture of Myloh Mason has been one of the highest priorities as we work with our many partners in law enforcement, including the FBI’s Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force. The crimes allegedly committed by Mason and his accomplices on November 18 made clearly evident his extreme danger to the entire public,” Lakewood Police Chief Kevin Paletta said.

Mason was the 505th person to be placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list on December 17, 2015. The reward for tips leading to his arrest was set at $100,000. Since a public tip did not lead to the arrest, no reward money will be paid out.
