Armed Robbers Wearing Scream Masks Hold Up US Bank in Lakewood, Threaten Tellers

Two men wearing masks from the movie Scream shoved guns in the faces of bank tellers this morning, threatened to kill them, robbed the bank, and got away in a stolen jeep. One of the bank tellers went to the hospital with minor injuries.

It happened at US Bank branch on 1414 Carr Street in Lakewood around 9:10 this morning. Suspects abandoned the stolen Jeep in the area of 14th and Garrison and fled in a black SUV.

Lakewood Police set up a perimeter in the area and used K-9s to search for the men to no avail.

The FBI’s Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force is looking for the robbers.

  • Both wearing Scream masks
  • Unknown race
  • Both male
  • Both about 6’ tall, weighing 180 pounds
  • Possibly in their late 20s.
  • One suspect is wearing a sweatshirt with “Mexico”

Also this morning, a man wearing a skeleton mask and brandishing a gun walked into a 7-11 at 1110 South Pierce in Lakewood, demanded everyone get on the floor, then fired two shots into the walls. No one was hurt. Task force officers say the robbers may have been trying to distract police from responding to the call at the bank, which was happening about the same time.
