Wyoming Man Charged with Felony Child Abuse

U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming Christopher A. Crofts announced that on September 26, 2013, Robert Felter Jr., a 22-year-old Northern Arapaho Tribal Member, was charged in an indictment with one count of felony child abuse in Indian Country, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1153 and W.S. § 6-2-503. The charge draws from an incident that occurred on June 20, 2013. Mr. Felter is facing a potential five-year term of imprisonment and could be ordered to pay restitution, a fine, and special assessment. This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

An indictment is only an accusation. In every criminal case, the accused is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and the government always has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
