Sentences for February 16 Through February 27, 2012

On February 24, 2012, Norman Ybarra, a 23-year-old Northern Arapaho Tribal member from the Wind River Indian Reservation, was sentenced for his role in the September 2011 arson and burglary of the Arapahoe Baptist Church. Mr. Ybarra was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Clarence A. Brimmer to 53 months’ imprisonment, five years of supervised release, $200 in court costs, and $223,818.14 in restitution. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Jerhmia Douglas Caddell, 25, of Worland, Wyoming, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on February 23, 2012 for being an unlawful user in possession of ammunition. Caddel was arrested in Worland. He received three years of probation, with the first two months in home confinement, and was ordered to pay a $250 fine and a $100 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Krista Johnson, 35, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on February 22, 2012 for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Johnson was arrested in Cheyenne. She received 30 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and a $500 fine. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Eric Christian Jones, 41, of Longmont, Colorado, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on February 21, 2012 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. Jones was arrested in Cheyenne. He received 240 months of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and a $2,400 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service.

Andrew Cornia, 37, of Laramie, Wyoming, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on February 17, 2012 for receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Cornia was arrested in Cheyenne. He received 78 months of imprisonment, to be followed by a life term of supervised release. Cornia was also ordered to pay a $200 special assessment, a fine of $500, and restitution in the amount of $200. This case was investigated by the Laramie Police Department and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

United States Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced that Beau Thomas Chavez, 26, of Ft. Washakie, Wyoming, and an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe of the Wind River Reservation, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on February 17, 2012 for assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do harm. Chavez received 30 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Chavez was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $5,317.19 and a $100 special assessment. These charges were in connection to an assault in which the defendant kicked in the victim’s door on the Wind River Indian Reservation and entered the victim’s home with a metal bar, intending to harm the victim. The victim was able to get out of the home without injury. The defendant continued to chase the victim with various weapons, and caused damage to the victim’s pickup truck. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Lynette Lynn Chapman, 39, of Chugwater, Wyoming, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on February 16, 2012 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 57.6 grams of methamphetamine. Chapman self-surrendered in Casper, Wyoming. She received 41 months of imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and a $500 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
