Kidnapping Suspect Shot and Killed by Officers

The FBI announced this evening that Dennis Cox, wanted on a kidnapping warrant out of Adams County Colorado, was shot and killed in a confrontation with officers from the Fort Collins Police Services late this afternoon. The Fort Collins Police were assisting the FBI in locating and apprehending Cox after he transported his victim across state lines in violation of federal law. FBI Agents have made a death notication tonight to members of his immediate family. An autopsy will be conducted by the Larimer County Coroner's Office.

The victim was safely located in Laramie, Wyoming, earlier today and transported back to Colorado by members of the Brighton, Colorado, Police Department.

The FBI extends it's appreciation to the public for their attention to this matter. The FBI extends it's appreciation to the dedicated members of the Brighton Police Department who investigated the kidnapping. We would also like to thank all those local, state and federal law enforcement partners who assisted or worked on the investigation.
