The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force (RMSSTF) and Denver Police Department responded to an attempted bank robbery yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, April 15, 2009) at the VECTRA BANK located at 401 East Speer Boulevard, Denver, Colorado. Investigation revealed the male bank robber, later identified as BARNEY TRUJILLO, 60 years of age, entered the bank and displayed a bank robbery demand note threatening a weapon. TRUJILLO left the bank for an undisclosed reason, without obtaining any money and fled on foot. Subsequently, an investigator with the RMSSTF reviewed the bank’s surveillance images and recognized the robber as TRUJILLO. Investigators were able to locate and apprehend TRUJILLO later the same evening.

It is expected federal charges will be filed on TRUJILLO for bank robbery in the District of Colorado.
