FBI Searches for Bad Hair Bandit

The Dallas FBI Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a serial bank robber dubbed the “Bad Hair Bandit,” who is believed to be responsible for five bank robberies or attempted bank robberies this year in Dallas. North Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this individual.

  • January 27—BBVA Compass Bank—11705 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas
  • February 8—BB&T Bank—11800 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas
  • March 15—Comerica Bank—19176 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas
  • March 15—Bank of Texas—6701 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas
  • March 15—BBVA Compass Bank—6501 Hillcrest Avenue, Dallas, Texas

The robber is described as a black male in his late 40s or early 50s, 5’10” tall, approximately 200 pounds, with a medium build and medium complexion. Investigators are calling this robber the Bad Hair Bandit because he has worn either a black or gray wig during each crime to help conceal his identity. He typically wears a sweater and jeans.

In each robbery, the subject has presented a note demanding money and threatening to have a weapon. To date, no one has been injured, and he has made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

It is believed that he uses a white, four-door sedan, possibly a 2013 to 2015-model Nissan Altima, as a getaway vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to call North Texas Crime Stoppers at 1-877-373-TIPS (8477). All tipsters remain anonymous. For additional information, including photos, please visit https://bankrobbers.fbi.gov/robbers-container/2016-02-26.2993209665.
