FBI and Local Law Enforcement Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Violent Bank Robbers
The Dallas FBI and local law enforcement officials are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the subjects responsible for eight similar Metroplex bank robberies that have occurred since July 26, 2013. The most recent robbery occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at ViewPoint Bank at 301 South Park Boulevard in Grapevine, Texas. To date, no one has been seriously injured, but the subjects’ actions during the robberies have become increasingly aggressive.
Investigators from the Dallas FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Dallas FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, and eight local police departments—Allen, Bedford, Dallas, Garland, Grapevine, Flower Mound, Plano, and Richardson—believe the violent takeover robberies could be connected. They may be committed by the same subjects each time or utilize different subjects from a coordinated robbery crew. While the crimes are similar, it is possible that all eight offenses are not all related.
Offense similarities: In most of the robberies, two to three men enter the bank and demand cash verbally; most of the men brandish weapons. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the robbers exit the bank and leave in a waiting vehicle being driven by an additional suspect. The vehicles are typically abandoned near the bank and are determined to be reported stolen from the metroplex area.
All the robbers wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, gloves, hoodies or baseball-style caps, and full masks or bandanas over their faces. They are described as black males, in their late 20s or early 30s, and range from approximately 5’7” to 6’0” tall. Two suspects have a thin build, and one is heavyset.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. A reward may be available for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of these individuals. Anyone with information is urged to call the Dallas FBI (972)559-5000 or your local police department.
